When you do a lot of cooking you need a quality set of oven mitts.  I have owned many different oven mitts of the years, and I recently had the chance to review this set of Silicone Heat Resistant Gloves from AYL.  They are perfect for all my cooking, baking and grilling!

These gloves are made of silicone, which makes lots of sense.  I have a number of different silicone baking items, like muffin pans, but until I saw these it never occurred to me that silicone was an excellent material for oven mitts.  The material is flexible, so I feel like I have a lot more control over what I am doing when I wear them.

And unlike most oven mitts these have a five finger grip, which makes it much easier to get a good grip on the hot pans or cookie sheets.  The silicone material has a texture, so you don’t have to worry about things slipping out of your grasp.  And they provide better heat protection than fabric oven mitts.  It seems like they would be especially good for grilling too!  I always burn my hands rotating shish kebob skewers, because it is so hard to do with bulky fabric oven mitts.  I will be using them for our BBQs as soon as the snow melts this spring.

The gloves are made of pure food grade silicone, which is BPA-free and FDA approved.  They are heat resistant to temperatures up to 425 F, and you can even run them through the dishwasher to clean them.  I love that I can use them to pick up something like raw meat and then put them in the dishwasher to make sure they really get clean.  These are a very handy kitchen item, and now that I have a set I find them indispensable for my cooking.
